Ever feel like someone’s peeking at your screen in a coffee shop or on a train? Microsoft’s working on a fix.
A new Windows 11 feature called Onlooker Detection could soon alert you when someone’s snooping. It builds on Presence Sensing—which already locks your screen when you walk away—and adds smart privacy protection.
If someone’s detected behind you, your laptop could dim the screen or send a warning. No extra effort required.
To use it, your device needs a presence sensor (HPD), found in newer laptops with Qualcomm, AMD, or Intel chips. You can check for it in Settings → System → Power & battery.
It’s not officially released yet, but it’s showing up in preview builds. And it’s a welcome step toward smarter, more private computing.
Would this give you peace of mind while working in public? Let me know—and if you want help upgrading to a device that supports it, We’ve got you.
